Summer is only now beginning in earnest. August is the laziest month, isn’t it? The heat swelters and the only thing you can put on is a breathable dress—I love that—and lounge around with a good book. This is the one time of year I really do that in any meaningful way. If you have any good book recommendations, please comment below!

I wore this No. 21 dress back in June in Chicago. I found it on sale last year at Matches Fashion. I wore it again last week while in Rome because—wait for it—I spotted it on sale a couple of weeks ago at Farfetch in Alexandra’s size. We had a matching moment in Italy the summer before so I suppose this is becoming a thing. I love how fun and flowy this dress is; I feel so playful wearing it.

I just did a big vacation edit that includes loads of dresses and accessories. Here are the overall styles I’m loving for summer ’18—a sort of best the best list as we close out summer with a bang.

Super bold color

While I never shy away from wearing color, this summer I want to wear lots of color. This rainblow-striped dress is an instant mood lifter. But I also like a bold monochromatic swipe of color, like the the red Staud dress below.

Boho/Embroidered Smocks

I also love a bit of boho and and I always go for embroidered smocks like these:

The biggest, chunkiest, grooviest jewelry.

I want to layer it all on this summer:

Bags that don’t cost an arm a leg

I was super late to the Cult Gaia party but I finally understand what all the fuss is about. This round bamboo bag is what made me take a good look at the brand and now I want it all. I also really love this clear Staud bag. Honestly, when it first arrived, I thought it looked a little silly. The truth is, I couldn’t return it and wouldn’t you know, I have been wearing it more than any other bag lately and I can’t even imagine having sent it back. Clearly something deeper is going on here: I must run free this summer and can’t be weighed down with an investment bag, ha.

Which styles are you loving this summer?
