The Best Party Dresses

Anna Roufos Sosa of Noir Friday wears a sequined blue Rixo dress.

Whether you have holiday events galore or your plan is to be cozy at home (lucky you), now is the time to peruse the best party dresses. You never know when something is going to call for a little sequins after all and odds are you’ll end up paying more later.

I’m wearing a Rixo dress here from last season. I bought it late in last year’s winter sales. I didn’t really have a place to wear it then but I loved it and have worn it a bunch of times recently (for my birthday, to dinner at Beatnik with my friend Ashley who took these photos, to NYC with my husband to celebrate our ten-year anniversary…and I’d wear it to a party again tomorrow). Rixo makes great party pieces; I always get a slew of compliments when I’m wearing one of their sparkly dresses. The new season Rixo dresses are equally fabulous and on major sale right now. I linked to a bunch here.

I bought the velvet Manolo Blahnik pumps from Luisaviaroma in September when they were running a promo for 20 percent off. The Hangisi pump is my favorite of all time and very hard to find on sale; they sell out the second they’re discounted. The bag is from one of my new favorite brands, Shrimps. The brand has such a quirky vibe, which I always love, and this was a steal on sale through MatchesFashion.com back in the spring.

I’m including a section here on cozy but festive things to wear for lunches and things. Everyone knows I love my knits and my mood is very much a sweater and shirt right now. For me, these cozy looks equally capture the festive mood, especially when paired with fun accessories.

Here are all my favorite party pieces:

Note: Photos were taken by Ashley of Sed Bona at Beatnik, which is seriously delicious and obviously has a fab decor. There are two locations in Chicago.
