Resort Ready

Anna Roufos Sosa of Noir Friday in Lisa Marie Fernandez.

For the last couple of years, my favorite collection to shop has been Resort. Don’t get me wrong, I love fall and all its layers (and Resort offers those, too, which we’ll get to in a sec). But designers such as Johanna Ortiz, Lisa Marie Fernandez and Caroline Constas, to name only a few, have given us major wanderlust. The set I’m wearing in the photo above is by Lisa Marie Fernandez (I also bought this dress and wore it in the Dominican Republic). These designers play with fabrics and proportions in such a modern way. Of course, some of these designers put out fall/winter and/or spring but these are the brands I search first when I’m heading on vacation—or simply want to fantasize about escaping to some impossibly chic location. And then there are all the traveling runway shows for Resort. We were not all transported when Chanel took their show to Cuba? It all adds up to major Resort lust.

Of course, the Resort category has expanded to include coats and sweaters (not everyone goes on some luxe holiday, after all) but I still think of it as what to wear on some fabulous island. Resort (or cruise or holiday) is sandwiched between fall and spring (after fall has gone on sale in mid-November and before spring hits stores in February-March). It typically goes on sale when spring does—around mid-May.

Here are my favorite pieces for your warm-weather getaway or summer ahead, whether you are actually traveling or not.
