Ciao from Rome! We are actually in Greece now but we had a quick holiday in Rome on our way. I adore this city. All I heard from people before I departed the United States was how Rome is not their favorite because it’s so big and crowded and hot. I had been once before, more than a decade back, so I didn’t have a vivid recollection. I found it to be utterly beautiful and inspirational. The old-world girl in me was simply captivated and I can’t wait to go back for another holiday.
I wore this Alice & Olivia dress while touring one day. It was comfortable and cool and the Roman women sure seemed to like it. I had one chase me down while getting into a taxi. She couldn’t make out my pronunciation of Alice & Olivia so I flipped up the tag for her to take a photo! I loved that I was showing off an American designer in Italy. You all know how much I love my Italian designers.
I found the dress on sale at Neiman Marcus. It was Last Call for around $160 and is sold out at Neiman’s right now but I keep seeing it pop up so keep checking back. I will update the links. Meanwhile, Bloomingdale’s has a bunch of sizes available at a higher (but still sale) price, and it is available in one-off sizes in a couple of other places. I have also linked to some similar ones.
Here are a few shots from the Eternal City. Alexandra wanted to teach me some dance moves while visiting the Piazza Navona.
The photos below are from a walk through the Villa Borghese—a must-visit if you are in Rome. It is one of the loveliest spots I have seen. The park is very big; we only had time for a glimpse but plan to go back to see more. We spotted a train that takes people though the vast park—a smart idea to cover a lot of ground.
Alexandra is wearing Ralph Lauren. I bought a couple of these sweet floral dresses in different colors for her first visit to Rome. They were only around $20 and I knew they would be perfect for sightseeing.
I hope you are having a wonderful holiday wherever you are. Ciao for now!
