I love winter. And I live in Chicago. I love winter in Chicago. I love summer, too, with its breezy skirts and sandals. But come fall, I crave chunky moto boots and wool.

I’m happily swaddled in fall fashion (particularly outerwear) for months. I also love the city in the winter. It’s wrapped up like a pretty present for the holiday season, of course, but I also love hot yoga and lunch inside by the fire at one of a dozen cozy spots within walking distance while the snow falls outside in January.

Each year, my big splurge is often on a coat. I usually pick this item up in the days right after Christmas or in early January. I found this dreamy Altuzarra coat at Barneys in Chicago right after Christmas. It was seriously discounted by then and one of maybe a handful available anywhere (trust me, I searched and searched before pulling the trigger). I needed a long black coat for dressier occasions and I love the cozy fur collar and big mirrored buttons on this one. I’ve been a big fan of Altuzarra, for coats especially, for a long time and have been lucky scoring one on deep sale at the end of the year at Barneys more than once.
