Brighten Up Your Home for Summer

As it becomes increasingly clear that our backyard (or terrace) is it for Summer Vacation 2020, you may be looking for little ways to brighten up your home for summer.

It’s hard to focus on anything but the news and what so many people are going through, but seasonal touches here and there always boost my mood so I’m looking for ways to make it feel like summer.

My daughter turned nine (!) recently and we celebrated with a “picnic in the park” to sort of bring the outdoors in.

A dear friend thought of the sweetest gift: a virtual “mommy and me” floral arranging workshop with Alice’s Table. We learned so much and she made this gorgeous arrangement (which lasted for two weeks!) and we had enough flowers left over for a second arrangement. They ship the flowers to you day before and I was really impressed with the quality.

Since we live in the city, I’m trying to find ways to make our terrace more comfortable and fun. We usually spend our summers on the beach, so I’m trying to make it as inviting as possible to still go outside and enjoy the little space we have. Here’s how I’m thinking of brightening things up this summer.

Hope you are all staying healthy.

Note: I bought the paper straws and balloons at shopsweetlulu. The plates and napkins are from Meri Meri. I found the lazy susan, quilt, berry basket and wrapping paper at Anthropologie. The wrapping paper is sold out but it’s by Rifle Paper Co., which always has cute designs. The satin ribbon is from Paper Source.
