Denim Culottes

I recently picked up these Valentino culottes at Barneys New York for 80 percent off the retail price and have found them to be so versatile. I wore them here with cloggy Chanel sandals and a simple striped tank while on vacation, and could easily see them with this Frame Denim blouse and these Gucci loafers (I just need the Gucci loafers!). And that’s just the beginning. They would be great with a sweater and high boots, a cheeky tee and platform sneakers, this striped jacket (obsessed) and a pair of mules (I can’t believe I just wrote that sentence, but these) and on and on. There are, of course, arguments for and against this pant, but the voluminous, wide-leg style gets my vote. And in any case, it’s important to not take yourself too seriously.

I found the Dolce & Gabbana sandals on sale at Barneys New York. I loved the “Mamma” collection and couldn’t resist them. There are those pieces in your wardrobe that remind you of certain eras in your life and I know I will look at these one day in the future and think of my delicious four-year-old daughter saying the word “mamma” 7400 times a day.

The striped Rag & Bone top is years and years old. I want to say it was from Neiman Marcus. I often pick up Rag & Bone basics for under $100 from that retailer. It’s good to have a lightweight, dressier sweater to layer with.

The jacket is Rebecca Taylor and I don’t remember how much I paid for it but it was most definitely under $100 and came from the day-after-Christmas sale at Neiman Marcus.

I told you all about the bag here.

So what’s your opinion on the culotte, denim or otherwise?
